Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

This is one of those records that get better with each listen. Every time I put it in I hear something else I like about it. It feels very homey and comfortable.

My first impression is that Carrie Biell has a really lovely voice. It’s deep and a little smoky and very warm. Very unique.

Her lyrics which are not on the CD but are provided on the website, are very well written.

There’s a bit of a twang that is reminiscent of some of the old sexy Chris Isaak tunes.

There’s something very small town to me about this. I don’t mean that in a bad way, at all. I mean it makes me feel like I’m in a great little dive bar in a small down tossing back a few and listening to some sweet music. Maybe doing a little slow dancing if the right guy asks.

I won’t pick out and talk about specific songs because I just read a rant from someone saying that they hate it when reviewers do that. His reasoning is that he, not knowing the songs yet, has no frame of reference.

So I’ll hold off for now. But I’m not going to stop doing that. I do it more for the artist so they know what I think stands out and for the folks who have already heard it to either agree or disagree.

…OK…I really like “Rise Off Our Feet”…ha! you can’t stop me!!
