Big Questions. puts Ingrid in the hosting seat where she asks kids their opinions on some of life’s big questions. “Filming LKBQ was such a fun and rewarding experience,” said Ingrid. “I loved every minute of it. The kids kept me on my toes and really entertained me with their innate, honest responses. Kids rule. And so does Soul Pancake!”

Sea Of Bees is set to release her sophomore album, Orangefarben, on May 1st on Team Love Records in the U.S.
To share the news, Julie Ann Bee is offering up as a free download. “Live At The Hangar – 5.3.11” captures an intimate night in Sacramento, CA when Jules and her pals celebrated the success of Songs For The Ravens with a special, invite-only live performance in the same studio where she crafted that breakthrough album.
In each song, you can hear the kind of musical growth that only comes from playing them night after night in front of audiences around the world. The EP closes with the haunting, yet rarely performed live, “It Won’t Be Long” which features Jules playing one of Neil Young’s old antique pump organs that she used on the studio version.

]]>Since leaving their former record label, Columbia, and signing with Dirty Hit Ltd, Little Comets have been busy touring with artists such as Delphic and The Noisettes. They’ve been gaining great radio and TV support for Isles and are continuing their tour of the UK with 20 dates in the next month alone!
They describe the song thusly:
“The song is called ‘Isles’ and I suppose it is just a collection of notes and words that fell out of us when whilst practicing in Gateshead. Like lots of places we’ve travelled to, there a strange disconnect between the people and their environment. Despite the simplification of bleak streets and wild youth, the lyrics can maybe convey the yearning subject matter more accurately.”

I’m super excited to announce that the lovely and talented Jodi Shaw is getting ready to release her first album in five years!
I’ve been following Jodi’s career for years and love both of her previous albums, Pie Love Sky and Snow on Saturn. In fact, love so much I persuaded her to come to Minneapolis and do a house concert even though she was sick (I still feel bad about that, but we had a great time!)
Anyway, her album, In Waterland, is almost done and will be released soon but she needs our help collecting the last of the finances it will cost to bring it to the people.
She made a video featuring a new song from the album called Jack and Jill
If you contribute to this project, you get some rewards! In her words: “For example, $15 gets you a full digital download and physical copy of the record; $5000 gets you a shaved head; etc. etc.” Yikes!! Read the fine print…that’s all I’m sayin’…

This band came across my desk today and I really like their sound.
A little info:
REDTRACK consist of Billy Wright (guitar / vox), Phil Blake (bass / vox), Mitch Silvey (guitar / vox / keys) and Andrew Perry (drums). They come from Southend-On-Sea, their bass player has survived an attack with a meat cleaver and they reckon they sound like a cross between Girls Aloud and The Clash.
They’ve been gracious enough to offer you guys two, count ’em TWO songs for you! What nice guys!

]]>check out this cool video by Baltimore, MD band, Nuke the Soup. It’s called Filled with Dread and it’s from their album, Make Waves not War.
It was shot in Los Angeles by producer/director George Rausch of Modified Ideas.
Taking cues from the song lyrics of wanting to “live in the past,” the creative music video for “Filled with Dread” piques the emotions of a distraught man (actor Jacob “Kujo” Lyons) who is walking the streets of L.A. while everything else is moving backwards. Rausch creatively incorporates the use of an iPod Touch to serve as a disembodied voice of the protagonist.

Liberation Entertainment releases GIRLS ROCK: The Movie on DVD on January 27th, chronicling an all-girls rock ‘n’ roll camp in Portland.
At Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp, girls ranging in age from eight to 18 are taught that it’s OK to sweat like a pig, scream like a banshee, wail on their instruments with complete and utter abandon, and that “it is 100% okay to be exactly who you are.”
The girls have a week to select a band, an instrument they may have never played before, and write a song. In between they are taught various lessons of empowerment by indie rockers such as Carrie Brownstein from Sleater-Kinney and The Gossip’s Beth Ditto.
What happens to the girls as they are given a temporary reprieve from being sexualized, analyzed and pressured to conform is truly moving and revolutionary.
