Well, this isn’t exactly the kind of music I normally showcase on this site, so I was a tad wary to consider it but I was pleasantly surprised upon listening.

Kimmy & Klasse is Kimmy J. Kearse (second soprano & alto), Johnita Wilson-Dillar (alto), and LeVondra Attidore (soprano).

I would say the style is R & B/pop. What’s cool about it (not that R & B/pop in itself isn’t cool) is that these ladies have great voices. Even for someone (me) who is not well-versed in this genre, it’s very appealing. There’s just something about Kimmy J. Kearse’s voice that is quite comforting and what makes it even more impressive is that many of these songs are written by Kimmy. What a talent.

I’ve never been a fan of “Chain of Fools” and am still not, but most of the other songs are quite good. Opener “My Day” is great. It’s probably my favorite on the recording.

The only criticism I would offer is that the packaging. It looks like a CD that someone made on his or her home computer. The photos and font are dated (without being retro) and the overall feeling I get from it is that packaging was not their primary concern. Maybe this look appeals to their target audience, I have no idea. But give them a listen, if you like good strong vocals you won’t be disappointed.
